Clinical Pharmacist

Ashik Karania

Clinical Pharmacist

Ashik Karania is a prescribing Clinical Pharmacist and is an essential part of the practice team, working closely with the GPs.

Clinical Pharmacists are experts in starting, monitoring and adjusting medications. Ashik speaks to patients to help review their medications and doses. He also helps if a patient has concerns about medication side effects or stock issues in the local community pharmacies. Ashik has a particular expertise in supporting patients with diabetes to optimise their medications, but his great experience in general practice allows him to support patients with a whole range of urgent and long-term problems. Appointments with Ashik are over the phone, and can be arranged through the practice reception team.

Nurses

Debbie Carter

Lead Nurse, Simpson Centre

One of our Nurse Managers, Debbie is the Clinical Lead for Asthma and COPD and carries out clinics in these specialties and is our Lead Nurse for Infection Control. Debbie is trained in Cervical Cytology, Travel Health, management of wounds and general Treatment Room duties.


Amelia Bojarzin

Practice Nurse

Amelia has a BSc in Adult Nursing (Nottingham University) and a PG Cert in General Practice Nursing (Buckinghamshire New University). Amelia has special interests in Diabetes, Immunisations and Wound Care and is trained in Cervical Cytology, Travel Health and general Treatment Room duties. Amelia works at both The Simpson Centre and Penn Surgeries.

Julie Santos

Practice Nurse

Julie works as a nurse across both sites, able to do cervical smears, adult immunisations & injections, phlebotomy, and manage wounds.

Julie is based at the Simpson Centre. Julie is trained in Baby Immunisations, Adult Immunisations, Travel Health, Management of Wounds and general Treatment Room duties.

Angela Bird

Healthcare Assistant

Angela, a very experienced community nurse, has joined the team as a HCA. She runs some NHS Health Check clinics and has joined the Diabetic Team undertaking the information gathering stage of the Year of Care Planning, Diabetes Clinics.

Danielle Mayo

Healthcare Assistant

Danielle is trained in Phlebotomy, ECGs and blood pressure monitoring.

Healthcare Assistant

Jamie-Lee works across both sites and undertakes varies duties as a trained HCA.

The Practice Manager is a strategic role, working closely with the GP Partners and NHS stakeholders, leading on HR and facilities management.

The Business Manager is a role encompassing finance, operations, IT and strategic planning.

Joanne Harrison

Assistant Practice Manager

The Assistant Practice Manager works with the management team with a variety of tasks including administration, technology and staff welfare.

The Management Team manages all of the business aspects of the Practice such as making sure that the right systems and the right people are in place, at the right time, in order to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises, equipment and IT (information technology). The management team supports the Admin Team, GPs and other medical professionals to deliver patient services and also helps to develop extended services, enhancing patient experience and care.

Reception & Secretarial Staff

Reception staff attend to patients on the phone and in person. They coordinate and organise appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the Practice, and support delivery of quality patient care. The Reception Staff have a very demanding role. They are there to assist you and we would ask you to be patient during peak times, when the staff have to handle a large volume of calls and enquiries. They will ask you a small amount of personal information about your medical condition – this information is used to ensure your call is dealt with by the correct Clinician and assist fellow Healthcare Professionals who work within the Practice to manage your healthcare and well-being.

All staff adhere to the Practice’s Confidentiality Policy and Data Protection Act 2018.

Physician Associates and Paramedics

Liam Clancy – PCN Paramedic
Fully qualified paramedic. Supports the clinical team carrying out medical assessments in the surgery as well as delivering assessment at our local care homes and home visits. Works under the supervision of a GP for advice and prescribing. Works at other local surgeries in the primary care network also.

Mohammed Alam – PCN Physician Associate
Fully qualified physician associate. Supports the clinical team carrying out medical assessments in the surgery as well as delivering assessment at our local care homes and home visits. Works under the supervision of a GP for advice and prescribing. Works at other local surgeries in the primary care network also.
